Brenda Bickerstaff-Stanley
Biography
Brenda paints in both watercolors and acrylics with bright bold colors from her surroundings. Living in Rockville, Virginia just outside of Richmond, she has the space and peace to create. Color has always been the thrust of her paintings. “If I had only one color…it would be red” How wonderful it is that I am able to find my life’s work through painting”.

Brenda began painting in her early years as college electives and found it so intriguing that she never looked back to her other studies. Through travel to unique places she has created lively scenes of such places as Africa, Italy, France, the Caribbean Islands and Mexico. She paints en plein air while on location and from her home studio. “Painting in both watercolors and acrylics allow me to fully explore a subject through either color washes on paper or full body strokes on canvas.

She belongs to several local art organizations. She exhibits both in regionally and throughout the U.S. Brenda is a member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and Metro Richmond Artist Assoc. and has received awards at art shows. She has taught watercolor classes and workshops in Virginia, Mexico and Africa.
